Chartair Alice Springs: Where Oogii's Australian dream comes true

More than two decades ago, Oduren Tsendjav (Oogii) graduated from the University of Civil Aviation in Kyiv, Ukraine. After graduation, Oogii returned to Mongolia and began working as a Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (LAME) for Mongolian Airlines. Starting in 2004, the airline underwent significant changes and formed a new company called Aero Mongolia which operated Fokker 50 and Fokker 100 aircraft. Oogii worked hard to obtain the licenses needed to conduct F50, F70 and F100 aircraft maintenance.

Oogii, who's always up for a challenge, went on to work in several General Aviation and Commercial Airline Companies. Whilst working in General Aviation, he obtained the licence to work on the Cessna 208B aircraft. Oogii's next appointment was as Base Maintenance Supervisor for the largest domestic airline in Mongolia. He obtained the relevant licenses to perform the Boeing 737-800 aircraft maintenance. In the next 2 years, he continued to expand his expertise in the field by maintaining Boeing 767 and Boeing 737 aircraft.

After 13 years of extensive experience in aviation, Oogii began to consider the next challenge in his career.

His journey was one of a kind, leaving his family back home in Mongolia and moving to Queensland. After becoming a student again, he successfully converted his Mongolian LAME into an Australian Licence in 2016. While waiting for his Licence from CASA, Oogii found the perfect job opportunity, working for Chartair in Alice Springs. He was invited to complete a 2-week trial which was extended to 4 weeks. At the end of the 4-weeks trial, Douglas Henry, Chartair Board Member, told Oogii something he will never forget: "WELCOME TO CHARTAIR, WELCOME TO ALICE SPRINGS".

Fast forward to this day, Oogii has settled in Alice Springs. We have recently celebrated his Australian Permanent Residency via a career migration pathway through Chartair. Oogii enjoys having BBQ and Friday afternoon knock-off beer. He appreciates the strong culture of communication, respect, and the excellent safety management system at Chartair. Oogii believes that Chartair has great career progression opportunities for Pilots and Engineers because of the friendly team environment and an extensive fleet of aircraft varying from single-piston, multi-piston, turbine, and twin turbine engines.
